Bon voyage!

Some of our 7/8 class are going to Quebec this week.  Bon voyage to all of you and to your chaperones.  I have already given the departing students a page with some ideas to gather while away: 5 new words they hear with the definition, choose an oratorical contest subject (may be something related to the trip, but doesn't have to be), and to choose a scene from the trip to dramatize with their sleep partners upon their return.  The students who remain this week will also do the same projects.

In the last weeks, we have had great fun learning.  We enjoyed concert with la Raquette à claquettes and even got to sing with them in front of all the immersion students and some core French classes.  Here are some pictures from our moments of fame.

In science, the grade 7s created thermos' and compared their efficiency at retaining heat.

In Art's Ed., we have been exploring non-traditional music with the themes of social justice (grade 8) and place (grade 7).  Here were two of the groups, one who presented their piece called Hurricane as they reflected on climate change and the environment.  Another group created music they called "Women's rights".  Some other themes were poverty and drinking and driving.  The grade 7s explored sounds associated with different locations like the library, classroom and gymnasium.
