A week break while the Response Team makes a provincial plan

Dear parents and class 8B,
The government committed to providing supplemental curriculum supports while classes are suspended, but we are still not sure what that will look like. Starting Friday, March 20, all school divisions in the province will pause educational operations for a one-week period.  This one week away will allow the Response Planning Team and individual school divisions to put in longer term plans to support students, staff and families while classes remain suspended.

So patience and self-care are a priority right now as well as social isolation to slow the spread of this virus.  Take time to rest, be with family and pursue your passions.  For now, we are getting your report cards for term 2 prepared to be mailed out to you.  There will not be any conferences at this time.  We will be able to communicate further after the week break.
For those students who would like activities to do, there are many online sources.  They can access mathletics and epic books from home.  Our class code for epic books is xnd7251.  There are both French and English books there online.  They can also watch episodes in French at ici-radio-canada.  We have used these resources in class so the students are familiar with it already.

Students remember to be careful on social media.  Parents it is a good idea to check your student’s social media, ask them about the kind of messages they are getting and who they are chatting with.  We have talked in class about what is socially appropriate, keeping your accounts private to avoid unwanted attention, blocking people who are inappropriate, demeaning or disrespectful and being good online citizens.
Be careful out there whether you are on social media or in public (I know we still need to get food, otherwise isolate and enjoy some time as family units).
We will communicate further after the week break, once we have been informed of the next steps.
